We get asked this question all the time and it’s a difficult one to answer. Maintenance is a great way to spread the cost of looking after your car or van. Make payments each month to cover the costs of tyres, servicing and mechanical replacements. Equally you can enjoy reduced costs per maintenance job because of the economies of scale enjoyed by the leasing companies but at what point does this become uneconomical for the end user. It’s a very hard call and you as a driver know how much you are likely to spend on maintaining a vehicle. How many sets of tyres do you go through a year? Clutches, services etc.? Work out your typical costs and then divide it by 12 if it comes in under over the maintenance quote offered by your leasing company go for it! In our humble opinion we would suggest that anything under 10000 miles per annum is questionable in terms of maintenance and you should really think twice before adding the product even then though you could be the kind of driver who gets through a set and a half of tyres in 8000 miles! Also remember to shop around on maintenance quotes when it comes to performance vehicles like the Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Evo, these sometimes get unnecessarily hit by leasing companies because of the assumption these cars get raced and rallied everywhere. Just because you have 2.5 WRX it doesn’t mean you’ll rally it like Colin MCrae!! |
